Merry Christmas – Citizen Radio

Citizen Radio, Support, Independent Radio, Independent News, Independent Media

Some might say I am a liberal, a tad progressive, or perhaps even a little bit socialist. Oh no, did the “S” word really come out? I have strong values that coincide with my efforts toward making positive change. Simply, I just want to make the world a better place for all individuals (animals and people). I know I cannot do it alone so it is important for me to support causes that follow my belief system. Whether with my time or with my money, I try to give when I can. One cause I support is independent media. I feel that seeking grossly inappropriate profits will eventually lead to corruption. I do not believe strongly that most “news” we see or hear is not actually real news. I believe it is propaganda in the form of paid programming. So I choose to support independent media.

One independent radio show I support is called Citizen Radio. Citizen Radio is a political-comedy radio show hosted by Allison Kilkenny (The Nation, Alternet, Truthout) and Jamie Kilstein (Comedy Central, BBC). After upgrading my donation status, the hosts of the show were very appreciative and mentioned my name in their “Holiday Special” podcast. As Citizen Radio describes their podcast “like CNN but with more swearing”, it should be stated that this podcast is for adults only. Despite the lewd jokes and profanity, the holiday special is quite hilarious, so listen to it here. I am mentioned during the last 15 minutes of the episode.

Besides being entertaining, this show is incredibly important for discussing real issues that occur in the United States and around the world. “Jamie Kilstein and Allison Kilkenny have created an important political radio show that balances humor and unreported news. At a time when media conglomerates dominate the airwaves, independent media like Citizen Radio is vital to national discourse.” – Noam Chomsky

I support Independent Media. You should too. Merry Christmas.
